Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentines ala Alisa Burke

After reading the talented Alisa Burke’s blog post on Friday, I decided I had to make some of her valentines. I’ve already made my valentines and they are in the mail, these were just for fun.



I cut the valentines out of construction paper, then drew on them with a fine Pitt artist pen, colored them with Derwent watercolor pencils, then to finish, painted them with water. when the water hit the pencil marks, they became much more vibrant and intense. They were fun to do, almost like a Zentangle valentine.

All about Valentines

I made some valentines for volunteers in our Christian Education program at church. I painted a big sheet of paper with a variety of reds and pinks, then put on bits of turquoise, white, and gold. I stamped some swirls and cut out the hearts. Loving the stitched line like I do, I sewed them to card stock which I had dry brushed with iridescent red paint and wrote on them with a poster paint pen. They are in the mail.

For this piece of stitch paper, I added color as I glued the papers to the fabric. I ran out of glue today, but I'll be back in business tomorrow. I need a bunch of sheets completed by the time we start week 2 of the book study. I'll do more to this piece as I am inspired.
